Gert was born September 20, 1916, the daughter of the late Henry and Nellie (Sorenson) Dreier in the town of Potter. She married Dale Ploeckelman on June 26, 1940 in Chilton. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1948. Gert clerked at the Red Owl grocery store in Chilton for several years. She also worked as a cook in a Chilton restaurant for several years. She moved to DePere in 1963 and was a nurse’s assistant for many years until her retirement.
Survivors include granddaughter and best friend Debra (Larry) Colling of DePere; their children “the twins” Neal and Katarina (Katie) and Annabella (Annie); one son, Earl (Pat) of Chilton; granddaughter Gale (Tony) Gerharz of Oshkosh and their children, Elizabeth, Christian and Meredith; one grandson Guy (Tracy) Ploeckelman of Georgia and her sons, David and Zak; son-in-law, Ricky Detienne; two sisters, Lillian Boll of Chilton and Ruth Loose of Sheboygan; sisterin-law, Alice (Lyle) Sielaff of Kaukauna and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Gert was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Jean; one brother, Marcus; and son-in-law Marvin Grosbier.
Funeral services were held at Ryan Funeral Home in DePere with Pastor Ted Tomble as officiant. Burial took place Thursday at the Hillside Cemetery in Chilton.
