Lynne A. "Toni" (Ciandella) Calabro, 65, of Irwin, died Monday, May 16, 2011, in West Penn, Frobes Campus, Monroeville. Toni was born Sept. 14, 1945, in Jersey City, N.J., to the late Joseph Anthony Ciandella and Evelyn Kopp Ciandella. She married Anthony D. Calabro on July 13, 1968, and was an amazing mother to Carol (Steve) Prock, of North Huntingdon, and Mary (Jeff) Grimm, of Aliquippa. She was the proud and loving grandma of Matthew, Marina and Alex Prock, and Carolyn and Megan Grimm. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Craig (Serine) Ciandella, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; brothers-in-law, Richard (Char) Calabro, Robert (Anita) Calabro and Joseph Calabro; a sister-in-law, Joann (Jerry) Villella; nephews, Chris (Holly) Calabro, Dominic (Maggie) Villella, Anthony and Kyle Ciandella; and nieces, Lori (Jim) Murphy, Lesli (John) Brodner, Nicole (Ryan) Moskowitz and Stephanie Villella; and numerous cousins, and great-nieces and -nephews. Toni was an avid bowler in several leagues throughout Northern New Jersey and Western Pa. In high school at age 16, she won the female bowling championship of New Jersey. At Duquesne University, Toni was the leading scorer for the women's basketball team and was female athlete of the year in 1967. Toni worked for many years with her husband at their family owned pharmacy, Tony's Pharmacy in Irwin, as the manager of the photo lab. After the close of the pharmacy in 1996, she continued to bring memories from film to paper for Filmet in Swissvale, PA and Norwin Avenue Eckerd/Rite Aid in North Huntingdon. Throughout her life, she was dedicated to helping anyone in need as an active volunteer for the Norwin PTA, stage manager for Janet's School of Dance, coach and umpire for PAL youth softball and stage manager for Norwin High School musicals. A caring wife, an adoring mother, a nurturing grandmother, a loving sister and aunt, a dedicated co-worker and coach, a tremendous athlete and teammate, a loyal friend to all, a force: she will be dearly missed. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, 724-863-1200. Parting prayers will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin.
