Mrs. Edith Kunkle Coates, 58, Eighth St., Irwin, died Wednesday in St. Francis Hospital, Pittsburgh, during heart surgery. She was born Aug. 17, 1907 in Irwin, a daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Good Kunkle. She was a member of United Methodist Church of Christ, Friendship Circle Class and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 400. Surviving are her husband, Arthur R. Coates, a former Republican councilman of Irwin Borough; a son, Robert J., a student at Penn State Univeristy; a daughter, Mrs. Connie Ault, Butler; one granddaughter; four sisters, Mrs. Olive Langworthy, Irwin; Mrs. Laurabel Wild, Safety Harbor, Fla.; Mrs. Emily Whitehead, Irwin; Mrs. Sara Kunkle, Battle Creek, Mich. Friends will be received at Vincent V. Rodgers Funeral Home, Irwin. Services will be held Saturday with her pastor, Rev. Arthur Papenmeier, officiating.
