Nellie was born in Fjelberg, Norway.

She came to America with her parents in 1882, settling at Bode, Iowa. In 1883 she was united in marriage to Edlef E. Sandvig.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Rolfe.

She and her husband had 11 children.

She leaves to mourn her loss, a kind and loving husband; eleven children, Mrs. Anna Phillips of Hedrick, Iowa, Mrs. Anton Olson of Blue Earth, Minn., Elert Sandvig of Havelock, Iowa, Mrs. Harry Pyle, Mrs. Orla Willingham, Mrs. Andrew Johnson, Elmer, Carl, George, Alfred and Eileen of Rolfe, one son, Elmer, dying in infancy, two sisters, Mrs. Rolf Hanson of Thor and Mrs. John Seip of Algona, twenty-nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
