Alva D. Tennant, 73, of Waynesburg, RD 4, died at 6:50 PM Saturday, July 18, 1964, at his residence. He had not been in the best of health for nearly three years.
He was born November 5, 1890, at Jake's Run, W. Va., a son of the late Noah and Pleasy Tennant.
He attended the First Christion Church of Waynesburg and was a former roller at the Waynesburg Tin Mill and also working at Jessop Steel in Washington for a number of years.
Mr. Tennant also was a farmer.
His wife, Fannie Elixabeth Botzell Tennant, died March 11, 1964.
Surviving children include Mrs. Mable Wood, of Amity; Mrs. Minnetta Neff, Washington; Mrs. Merl Shriver, of McDonald, RD 1; Mrs. Melva Yost. Of Mingo Junction, Ohio; Mrs. Margaret Shultz, of Waynesburg, RD 4; Mrs. Mildred Thomas, of Waynesburg, RD 4; Mrs. Evely Speelman, of Rices Landing; John Edward Tennant, of Detroit, Mich; Glenn Tennant, of Waynesburg, RD 4; James Tennant, of Waynesburg, RD 4; and Charles Tennant, of Indiana.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lulu Willard, of Waynesburg, and Mrs. Crille White, of Titusville; one granddaughter, Bonnie Delaney Seltz, of Belmont, Mich., whom the Tennants raised, and 45 other grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Four children, two brothers and two sisters are deceased. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 22, 1964 with burial in the Oakmont Cemetery, Waynesburg.
