Strode E. 'Sam' Marshman, 82, of Avalon Road, Box 155, Altoona RR6, died Sunday morning, Sept. 16, 2001, at Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg.

He was born July 19, 1919 in Juniata, a son of the late Isaac Strode and Mary C. (Weight) Marshman. He married Louise B. Sigrist, June 1, 1945, in Altoona. Mr. Marshman was a member of Mardorf United Methodist Church.

He retired as a quality control inspector for Conrial in December 1980. He served as a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps during WW2 in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Greenwood Lions Club for many years. He graduated from Altoona High School, class of 1937.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Rebecca A. Marshman of Altoona, and two sisters: Louise Crea of Whiting, NJ and Joanne Croft of Carlisle. He was proceeded in death by a brother, Clair; and two sisters: Gertrude Ardrey and Verna Mae Cruis.

Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
