BRISBANE COURIER MAIL NEWSPAPER -16 OCTOBER 1995

Detectives investigating an apparent home invasion murder in a quiet Brisbane suburb were mystified last night by a lack of witnesses.
After a night and day of intensive investigations, including house to house checks, detectives had found no one who had seen any suspicious activity outside the home of the victim at Moorooka.
Daniel Clark, 33, was bashed to death in his home early on Friday evening.
His housemate told police a gang also clubbed him about the head three or four times with the murder weapon, but he somehow managed to evade his attackers and run to neighbours.
Police said they were sure the crime was drug related.
They were mystified that although neighbours heard signs of violence and rang for the police and ambulance no one saw anyone fleeing the scene.
The housemate told police three intruders, wearing balaclavas and armed with an iron bar, were looking for drugs.
Members of the homicide squad, Oxley CIB and scientific experts combed the street yesterday searching for clues into the shocking crime.
"At this stage, it is not too clear what went on in the house that night," said Det. Sen. Sgt. King. "What is clear is that there has been a particularly violent murder."
Sen. Sgt. King said police were called to the quiet suburban street about 7pm on Friday and found the housemate at a neighbour's house.
He had cuts and bruises to his head and body and a suspected broken arm. He also needed stitches to a head wound. He said he had been asleep and was woken by the masked intruders.
He said they dragged him from the bed and started to beat him up. "They said,'Where are the drugs? Where are the drugs?" he said in a statement given to detectives from his hospital bed yesterday.
"I said I did not have any. They kept swinging the bar at me. They hit me in the head three or four times. They hit me in the ribs and on my arm. "I said I did not know where the drugs are....maybe Danny has got some."
He told the police the attackers said they had already killed Mr Clark and would do the same to him if he did not give them some drugs.
He said he saw the dead body in the lounge as he was being led from his bedroom. It was at this point that he gave them the slip.
Sen. Sgt. King said there were no signs of forced entry into Mr Clark's house. Neighbours had not seen or heard anyone enter or leave. But, he said, there was no evidence to suggest the attack had not taken place exactly as the housemate had described.
The housemate gave police sketchy descriptions of the attackers - all between 180cm and 185cm tall, of medium build, fair complexion and wearing dark clothing.

*******Danny Clark was the son of one of my cousins.*******

Police caught two men for the murder of Danny and both were sentenced to "life". which in Australia is about 15 years - 10 for good behaviour."
In an ironic twist, the men mistook Danny for a former tenant at the house.
