Leo Bloch Leo passed away peacefully at his home in Bellevue on August 19, 2011 at the age of 97. He was born October 2, 1913 in Seattle, to Moris and Fannie (Epstein) Bloch.
Leo was predeceased in death by his beloved wife, Selma, with whom he enjoyed 72 joyous years of marriage. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by all of his adoring children and grandchildren.
His family and his business, Bloch Steel Industries, were his great joys. A brilliant scholar from an early age, he graduated from the University of Washington Law School with a law degree at 20 and a doctorate of law at 22, having been the second person to have done so with perfect marks. He went immediately into his dad's business and expanded it over the years.
During his long life, he took the time to mentor, advise and support many people along the way. Leo was respected by those who knew him as a man of remarkable integrity, intelligence and compassion. He was loving and generous with a very sweet nature. Even in his older years, when the strains of everyday living were hard, he did not complain and was only appreciative of everything done for him. He was a philanthropist who gave to numerous charities and belonged to many organizations including Temple De Hirsch Sinai. He was always delighted to spend time with his family and felt blessed that his family had stayed close to him in Bellevue and to each other.
He is survived by his son and 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
