Robert Comer Sr., 88, of 360 Providence Road, Carrier Mills, died 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at his residence.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 5, 1916, in Attica, Ind., to the late Glen H. and Myrtle B. (Brown) Comer. On March 30, 1937, he married the former Edith Warren, who survives.
He was a retired superintendent from Penn Central Railroad. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Eldorado and a life member of Masonic Lodge No. 260 A.F. and A.M. in Mattoon. He was baptized into the church in 1976. He and his wife Edith were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah on Nov. 30, 1977. In his 29 years in the church, he served in numerous callings.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Constance (Donald) Comer Bond of East Salt Lake City, Utah; a son, Robert B. (Judy) Comer Jr. of Carrier Mills; a sister, Maxine Boots of Lafayette, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Kris Bond; four brothers; and three sisters.
