Mrs. Walter F. Neils, 68, longtime Milton resident, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 5 in her home at 720 Parkview Dr. She had been in ill health for the past two years.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 8, from the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church, with Rev. Earl Cruzan officiating. Burial was in the Milton Cemetery with Aaron Breitkreutz, Edward Holmes, Clifford Janke, Russell Maxson, Ralph Schultz and Steven Summers as pallbearers.
The former Dorothy Bennett was born June 6, 1904, in Lima Township, the eighth of nine children born to Dollie Brown and James B. Bennett. A Milton Union high school graduate, class of 1925, she was also a graduate of Rock County Rural Normal School and taught for nine years in Lima Township Schools. She was married July 2, 1937, to Walter F. Neils, in Milwaukee, and the couple resided there for seven years before moving to Milton. She was a member of the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Miss Mary C. Neils, Hales Corners; two sons, Walter Jr. of Janesville, and Frank J. and his wife, the former Sandra Runge, who reside in Milwaukee; one granddaughter, Dawn Marie; four sisters, Mrs. J. Fred Whitford and Miss Ardis Bennett, both of Milton; Mrs. Harold Burdick, Kansas City, Mo. and Mrs. Charles F. Sutton, Springfield, Ill.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were two sisters, Zela and Mrs. Harry (Geneva) Talbot and two brothers, Leslie and Harold.
