ROBERT L. WESTBROOK was the 4th of 13 children born to Moses Westbrook, Jr. and Martha Lawrence Allen. Robert died, age 16, shortly after the family had arrived in Marengo Co., AL from Lenoir Co., NC.

According to the Westbrook Family Bible, Robert's parents had 13 children:
1. Mary Eliza, 1812-1846, 1st wife of Jesse Jones, m. 1841
2. William A., b. 1814, d. bef 1860; m. Louisa Bradford 1836
3. Richard, b. 1816
4. Robert L., 1818-1838
5. Allen, b. 1819, a Physician, m. Ann Mayfield 1845, moved to Lauderdale Co., MS
6. Absoly b. 1823, 1st wife of James F. Aldridge m. 1836, died before 1848.
7. George Washington, b. 1825, m. Mary,

8. Elizabeth, 1827-1849, 2nd wife of Jesse Jones, m. 1847
9. James, b. 1829, m. 1st Elizabeth Grouer 1848, m. 2nd Joanna A. Hartley 1855

Sgt. Lewis Westbrook, Co, H, 7th Regiment, CSA, killed during Pickett's Charge, Battle of Gettysburg, PA.

It is most likely that he was the first to be buried in this Family Graveyard.

His tombstone read:
Robert L., son of Moses and Martha L. Westbrook who departed this life Sept. 2, A. D. 1836.

His tombstone (not his coffin) was subsequently moved to the south section of Jefferson Cemetery.
