POQUOSON - Jean Moore Shaw, 81, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Poquoson, She was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, and the York-Rebekah Lodge #53 for many years. An avid music lover, Jean and her family loved to sing together, was very family oriented and she loved their many gatherings. Everyone was always welcome in her home. Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Asa Shaw, Jr.; son, Wayne H. Shaw; parents, Alma B. and Herbert Moore; brother, W.H. Moore; and a great-grandson, Thomas Shaw. She is survived by three sons, Glenn Shaw and wife Kay,Curtis Shaw and Lou, James Shaw and wife Debbie; a daughter, Karen Haney and husband Larry; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great- grandchildren; and a sister, Linda Ridenhour. The family will receive friends Sunday, 6:00-8:00 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at 4 Lyons Creek Road., Poquoson. A Celebration of Jean's Life will be held Monday, 2:00 PM, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church by Rev. Barry Throckmorton. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Poquoson Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 2099, Poquoson, Va., 23662. The family would like to thank the Poquoson Rescue Squad, the staff at Riverside Hospital, Janine Forrest for bringing Jean her special meals, Robbie Robinson for singing her last song, and David Creecy and the staff at Poquoson Pharmacy. Claytor Rollins Funeral Home and Crematory, Poquoson, is in charge of arrangements.
