Clyde Hubbard, 80

BELVIDERE -- Clyde Hubbard was called home with Jesus after a long, courageous and miraculous battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 19, 1923, to Fred and Louise Hossler Hubbard. Clyde married Nancy I. Love Aug. 10, 1946. He worked at Northwestern Steel & Wire in Sterling before moving to Belvidere in 1966 to work for Chrysler Corp.; he later worked as an electrician at Sundstrand Corp. After retiring, he worked as a funeral director's assistant with Honquest Family Funeral Services before being diagnosed with cancer. Clyde lived a full life of service to others, primarily at Central Christian Church, where he was a dedicated member and had many friends who prayed for him, visited and sent cards. He was most thankful for his family and church family whom he loved dearly and appreciated their support. That support, along with the hand of the Lord which guided the doctors who treated him, made this all a victorious battle. Clyde was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines and Guam. Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy; son, Gary (Marguerite) Hubbard; daughter, Cindy (Darrell) Jones; grandchildren, Audrey Hubbard, Michael (Tamara) Jones, Todd Hubbard and Meagan Jones; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Charles 'Chipper' Jones; sister, Ruth (Glen) Fosha; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; sister, Moleta Jerrells; and grandson, David Jones. Special thanks to all of the doctors and nurses for their special care, especially Dr. Anthony Molinari and oncologist, Dr. Mete Korkmaz; you were very special to Clyde and his entire family.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in Central Christian Church, 6595 Guilford Road, Rockford, with Tommy Simpson, senior minister, officiating. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. Visitation from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday in the church. Memorials to the Cancer Center at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center or Central Christian Church Building Fund. Arrangements by Honquest Family Funeral Home, North Mulford Chapel, 4205 N. Mulford Road.
