Davis J. Banks, 83, Seymour, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012, at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis.
Mr. Banks was employed at Cummins Engine Co., retiring in 1985. He liked farming and enjoyed coon hunting.
Born Dec. 30, 1928, in Seymour, he was the son of Ernest R. Banks and Eva Mae Murphy Banks Sage. Ernest passed away when Davis was only three, and he was raised by his mother and his stepfather, Ross Sage.
Survivors include his companion, Wanita Tabor; children, Dennis (Kathy) Banks, David D. (Diane) Banks, Susan (Allan) Hauersperger, Randy (Terri) Banks, Dodie Reichenbacker and Todd A. Banks; grandchildren, Laurie Ritter, Daniel Banks, David D. Banks II, Julie Rueger, Rayna Barr, Ryan Hauersperger, Darin Hauersperger, Brennan Williams, Breighan Banks and Devan L. Reichenbacker; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sondra (Larry) LeHigh, and Peggy (Robert) Meyer.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; stepfather; brother, Herschel Banks; sisters, Pat Knott and Celeste Shasteen; and one great-grandson.
The Rev. Brien Stout will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Uniontown Cemetery with a Voss dove release.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 12:30 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
