Ada Mae (Johnson) Batman was born May 27, 1928 in Rush County, Indiana, the daughter of Frank J. Hanley and Barbara (Harden) Johnson. Ada was the second of four daughters. She passed away at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Wesley Manor, she was 86. Ada attended Clarksburg High School for three years, was a graduate of Frankfort Pilgrim High School, and attended Frankfort Pilgrim College for one year. She was the Assistant Director for Wesleyan Women in the Indiana Central District for 15 years and directed the Ministers' Wives and Ladies Retreat in the Indiana Central District for a number of years. Her passion was to the children and women of the church. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church in Frankfort, Indiana. She married the Reverend Ernest Ray Batman on July 10, 1948, at the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Clarksburg, Indiana. They were married for nearly 66 years. Always a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, Ada is with her beloved Savior today. While we are sad and will miss her, we also rejoice with her.

Ada is survived by her husband, Ernest Ray Batman. Together they had three sons—Ronald (Marlene) of Anchorage, Alaska; Mark (Felicia) of Plymouth, Indiana; Kevin (Teresa) of Fishers, Indiana; and two daughters—Barbara (Oliver) Howe of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Beth (Jeff) Gormong of Farmersburg, Indiana. Ada has one surviving sister, Helen Jackson of Greensburg, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren—Carissa (Evan) Hawkins, SaraBeth (Nicholas) Krudy, Michael Colter, Luke (Elizabeth) Batman, Emily Batman, Matthew Batman, Benjamin Batman, Bradley Batman, Bailey Batman, Braden Batman, Jaena Gormong, Johanna Kelsey Gormong, and Jessica Gormong; and three great grandchildren—Caleb Krudy, Berkeley Hawkins, and Lila Batman.

Preceded by: her parents; her son Kent (twin to Kevin); and two sisters, Florence Eckart and Shirley Satterfield.
