Ernest Lloyd White of Hayti was born May 22, 1931, in Caruthersville and passed away May 18, 2014, in Hayti. He was 82 years, 11 months and 26 days of age.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfield Schley (Slay) White ad Ora Mann White; five brothers, Wilford, Marshall, Hugh, Ralph and Lawrence White; and three sisters, Evelene, Mildred and Clarene.
He served in the Korean War and after returning home, he was employed at the MFA Good Plant in Hayti. He also served as captain on the Hayti Fire Department until he retired. One of his hobbies was working on small motors for lawn mowers. He was a loving husband and father spending time with his family and friends.
He was united in marriage to JoAnn Carter Feb. 18, 1955, in Desoto County.
He leaves the following to cherish his memory: his wife, JoAnn White of the home; daughter, Linda and husband, Ron Inmom, of Springfield, Mo.; sons, Jerry White of Hayti and Danny and wife Terry of Clarkville, Tenn.; grandson, Jimmy Riggs of Springfield; granddaughter, Jessica Light of Wichita Falls, Texas; sisters, Betty May of St. Peters, Mo., Florence Harris of Farmington, Mo., and Veedies Roberts of Tulsa, Okla.; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Doug Wahls officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti.
Pallbearers were Hayti firemen, B.F. Hall, Glen Whitener, Curt Sanders, Mike Thomas, Michael Bellew and Maurice Redden.
