Elizabeth Boyle Kimball Clawson 1917 ~ 2006 Elizabeth Douglas Boyle Kimball Clawson passed away September 29, 2006. She was born January 6, 1917 in Salt Lake City to Ashby Douglas Boyle and Martha Deseret Grant Boyle. She was a granddaughter of Heber J. Grant. She attended East High and the University of Utah, and while at the U, was a member of Chi Omega and received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Geology. She married Clayton Henry Kimball June 25, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. He passed away November 23, 1970. She later married William H. Clawson. Betsy loved to entertain, was a gracious hostess, and belonged to many social groups such as Cleofan, Dinorators, and the Friendship Circle. She loved to read, dance, travel, and enjoyed the arts. She often traveled to San Francisco to attend the opera. Her love and support of the arts and love for learning enriched the lives of her children. She maintained a beautiful home and garden, and had lovely plants inside her home including African Violets that only she seemed to be able to keep blooming. Betsy and her siblings were very close and she devoted many hours of service to her sisters in their later years, as well as to others. Her great sense of humor was inherited from her father. Betsy had many church callings, including serving as Relief Society president in the Monument Park Second Ward. She had great faith and was a source of strength for her children. She was called to a service mission at the Church Museum of History as a receptionist after she retired from working for many years as a receptionist for doctors. She is survived by her husband, William Clawson; her sons, William Clayton Kimball (Tony), of Belmont, Massachusetts, Briant Kimball (Kris) of Salt Lake City; daughters, Carolyn Leeper of Woods Cross, Jeanne Hill (Greg) of Denver, Colorado; Bill's children, Elizabeth Davidson, Daniel Clawson (Sheryl), Thomas Clawson (Susan), all of Salt Lake City; 22 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Martha Bradford, Edna Clawson, Margaret Adamson; and one brother, Douglas Boyle. Many thanks to IHC Hospice and especially Raeann Peck who was a loving help to Betsy to the end. Contributions may be made to the Utah Symphony and Opera, the LDS Perpetual Missionary Fund, or LDS Missionary Fund. Friends may call Tuesday, October 3rd, at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 S, 6-8 p.m. and one hour before the 12 noon funeral at the Yalecrest First Ward, 1035 S. 1800 E, October 4th.
