Southeast Economist, Thurs. June 18, 1942, p. 2:3. At a family dinner party in their home last week, Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Oehme, 7510 Ingleside ave., announced the engagement of their daughter, Florence, to James Rudig, son of Henry Rudig of South Bend. The young man left Saturday for the army air corps and like so many other young people, the wedding plans of the couple are dependent on the war. The bride-to-be was graduated from Hirsch high school.

The Odessa American, Thurs. Feb. 11, 1943, p. 4:3. Florence E. Oehme and Cadet James Rudig Married at Post Chapel. Miss Florence E. Oehme became the bride of Cadet James William Rudig in a ceremony performed by Chaplain Theodore Schoech at 6:30 Saturday evening in the post chapel at AAF Bombardier School. Mrs. C.J. Spahn was matron of honor and Pvt. Charles P. Teske attended the groom as best man. Sgt. Don Gillette played the nuptial music.

Sacramento Bee, Jan. 3, 2013. Beloved by so many, Florence Elizabeth Rudig died on Friday, December 28, 2012, at the age of 95. Florence (affectionately known as GGMa) was born in Chicago, IL, and lived in Sacramento for 62 years. She moved to Roseville in 2011 to live with her grandson, Daniel McChesney, his wife Carrie, and their two young sons. Florence is survived by her daughter Jeanne McChesney, her husband Bob, and their family; son Jim Rudig, his wife Anne, and their family; and son Chaz Rudig, his wife Stephanie, and their family. She has 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In 1982, she retired as secretry of Mission Avenue School after working there for 28 years. Active all of her life, Florence belonged to a weekly breakfast group for 40 years, volunteered at Casa de Los Ninos, loved line dancing, bridge, and her exercise group at Mission Oaks. Florence was a long-time member of St. Mark's Methodist Church in Sacramento, where a memorial service will be held on January 19, 2013, at 1:00pm.
