Carl M. Tidwell, 80, of Nampa, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014.

I was born on the third of July 1933 in Nampa, Idaho. My parents are Joseph and Sylvia Gladys Neilsen Tidwell. I attended schools in and around Nampa. I attended college and earned a degree in Agronomy. While attending BYU in Provo, Utah I met my eternal companion Myrna March. We were married in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the 4th of Jan. 1956.

I began farming with my father but due to illness I had to find an occupation less physically demanding. I taught high school in Marsing for two years, then taught at Vallivue High School for 28 years and found great pleasure in doing so.

We served a mission in Salt Lake City. I was preceded in death by my parents, stillborn twin girls, and a grandson. I am survived by: my wife Myrna Tidwell, Neils Tidwell (Gina) of Nampa, ID, Wendy C. Archibald (Lyle) of Provo, UT, David Tidwell (Roma) of Nampa, ID, Shelley Jones (Alan) of Caldwell, ID, Russell Tidwell (Joanie)of San Antonio, TX, Shawn Tidwell (Wylie)of Denver, CO and Scott Tidwell (Natalie) of Meridian, ID. We have 28 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. I am also survived by a brother Frank Tidwell of Salt Lake, UT and my sister Darlene Robinson of Twin Falls, ID.

I was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life and have served in many positions of responsibility. I was registered with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) for 4 years as a boy and over 50 years as an adult. My five sons have earned the rank of Eagle in BSA, and they were all granted football scholarships to play in college. One daughter is an attorney and one is a teacher.

Carl passed away on the 4th of June 2014 at home from complications of cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 10 at the church on 6111 Birch Ave. Nampa, Idaho. A viewing will be held at the church Monday, June 9 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and at the church Tuesday from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
