Services for Howard Alonzo Goans were held Tuesday, December 29, 1992 at Holman Chapel, with Rev. Theron McCloud officiating.
Music was by Jack Parscale, vocalist, and Gerry Hoke, organist. Selections were "Amazing Grace" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." Burial was in the White Oak Pond Cemetery, under the direction of Holman Funeral Homes of Lebanon.
Escorts were Bradley Goans, Brent Goans, Brian Goans, Harold Hoskins, John Hoskins and Victor Wilson.
Howard Alonzo Goans, son of Albert Alonzo and Mary Catherine Manning Goans, was born January 3,1900 near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life December 27, 1992 in the Gaslight Manor Care Center in Lebanon, Missouri at the age of ninety-two years, eleven months and twenty-four days.
On October 21, 1944 he was united in marriage to Lottie Glennis Jones who preceded him in death on January 2, 1983.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Ruth Hawkins, Lydia Hawkins and Eva DeVasure.
Howard is survived by one son, Bill Goans, of Lebanon, Missouri; three daughters, Bonnie Medley, of Lebanon, Helen Taylor, of Lead Hill, Arkansas, and Hazel Gordon, of the state of Arizona, one brother, Don Goans, of Lebanon; two sisters, Emma Layman and Laura Chrisrnan, both of Lebanon; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He lived his entire life in the Lebanon and Laclede County area and owned and operated a farm for most of his life. He also was employed by the City of Lebanon for several years.
He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during World War I.
Howard was a member of the White Oak Pond Cumberland Presbyterian Church and had enjoyed his church fellowship.
He enjoyed working on his farm and loved spending time with young people, especialiy his grandchildren and great­grandchildren.
Howard will be fondly remembered by his family and all those who knew and loved him.
