Alvan David Forry, formerly of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care January 22 in New Oxford.

Born in Penn Township, he was the son of the late J. Clinton and Virgie E. (Shank) Forry.

Mr. Forry was a member of Bair's/Hostetter's Mennonite Church, where he was a deacon; served on the Board of Trustees; and was a Sunday School Teacher and Bible Teacher. Alvan attended Eastern Mennonite High School in Harrisonburg, VA, and Johnstown Mennonite Bible School in Johnstown.

He farmed in the area for 37 years, and also worked at the former Golden Age Nursing Home in Hanover. Mr. Forry enjoyed Christian Music; taught music and directed church music at various functions; and enjoyed singing with his family.

He was the loving husband for 62 years of Fannie M. (Kuhns) Forry, who passed away July 2, 1999, and is survived by five children, John Forry of Hanover, Rhoda Korver of Xenia, IL, Mark Forry of Alliance, NE, Priscilla Garrett of Lancaster, and Ruth Anna Kauffman of Hanover; 14 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ira Forry; and one sister, Mary Forry.
