SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- H. Ross Borneman, 92, formerly of Elkhart, Ind., died Aug. 10, 2007.

He was born June 7, 1915, in Elkhart, Ind., where he grew up, raised his family and successfully developed and expanded his business. He married Barbara Beardsley on June 8, 1946.

She survives, along with a daughter, Pamela (Rick) Burke of Irvine, Calif.; a son, Peter A. (Beverly) Borneman of Santa Barbara, Calif.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ross Beardsley Borneman; and his only brother, Bud Borneman.

There will be a private family service and interment at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Paradise Valley.

Mr. Borneman was a 1938 graduate of Dartmouth College and a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. After college, he served five years with the U.S. Navy in World War II, achieving the rank of lieutenant commander. He was commissioned on a minesweeper, the U.S.S. Triumph, operating in the South Pacific.

He purchased Elkhart Products Corp. in 1948. He retired and sold the business in 1970, after leading the company to become an industry leader for plumbing fittings with two plants in Indiana and one in Arkansas.

Mr. Borneman served as a director of First National Bank, Elkhart; a member of the Rotary Club, Scottsdale, and a member of the Council of Emeritus Advisors for the Business School at Arizona State University.

He was a life member of the Episcopal Church; a treasurer and member of the vestry of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Paradise Valley; president of the Dartmouth Club of Phoenix; a member of Paradise Valley Country Club; and a founding member and director of Elcona Country Club, Elkhart.

Mr. Borneman was known as a loving and devoted husband and father.
