Velma Lou Larance, 67, of Lake Stamford, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Kinney-Underwood Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Brigham officiating. Burial will follow in Clearfork Cemetery in Lueders under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home in Stamford. The family will receive visitors from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the funeral home.

Velma was born April 14, 1947 in Hurlwood, Texas, the daughter of the late Wesley William and Mary Alma (Dossey) Larance. Velma had lived at Lake Stamford for 20 years and she enjoyed fishing. She also liked gathering with friends and family, singing and picking the guitar. One of Velma's passions in life was spending time with her kids and grandkids. She was a Baptist.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Billy Joe Larance, Herman Larance, Kenneth Larance; and two sisters, Dorothy Fay Guinn, and Rose Lee Hammer.

Velma is lovingly survived by her husband, Benny Dossey of Lake Stamford; children, Terry Lewis and wife Deana of Anson, Robert Lewis of Anson, Kimberley Murphy and husband Jim of Wellston, OK, Carroll Ray Lewis and wife Sadie of Belton; stepson, Darrell Dossey and wife Jennifer;12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; four brothers, Glen Larance, Ray Larance, Roy Larance, Ricky Larance; two sisters, Sue Lee, Mary Ruth Lyons; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
