John would have been one of the very first Hurricane Hunters except for one thing... Hurricane Hunters were Atlantic weathermen while those flying into the eye of Pacific typhoons were called Typhoon Chasers. My dad was a weatherman in the Army Air Corps when it became the U.S. Air Force. He was assigned to a B29,chasing typhoons while stationed in Guam during the 1940's.
