Was born Feb. 21st, 1846, near Montpelier, Ohio, and died Oct. 19, 1912, at his home in Orland, Indiana, aged 66 years, 7 months and 28 days.

He was united in marriage to Harriet Friend, Dec. 21, 1871. To this union were born four children, three daughters and one son. One daughter passed from earthly life nineteen years ago.

The greater part of his life was spent on a farm near Montpelier. Five years ago he removed to Orland, and shortly thereafter erected his beautiful little home in which his last days were spent with his life companion.

He was stricken down with disease June 17, of this year, and since that time has been a great but patient sufferer; quiet and unassuming, given to service for others, devoted to his home and family, industrious, honest and faithful and a loving husband and father. These are the chief characteristics of the life just closed.

He leaves a wife and three children to mourn for his companionship. He was a life-long member of the Methodist church. The beautiful life thus closed had much of suffering but its end is sweet peace.
