Mrs. Effie E. McDowell, 88, of Delburne, died Friday at the Elnora Hospital.
She was born at Perry, Iowa, and she and her husband, J.W. McDowell, started homesteading at Sunnybrook district in 1909. In 19?3 they moved to Delburne, where her husband died eight years ago.
She is survived by her son, Willard of Delburne; one daughter, Mrs. Alex (Lois) Buckley of Olds; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son and one daughter, Mrs. Lela Bird.
Funeral service was held today at 2 p.m. at Delburne United Church and burial was in the family plot at Delburne.
