According to article in The Magee Courier in the column "The Family Tree" by Vivian Love Williams the family story is that Pheribia went up on a hill near where they lived south of the town of Shivers and laid a heart of pine fence post and said this is where I want to be buried. The story is that three heart of pine fence posts rotted out before Pheriba died in 1907. During the Civil War when all her sons were off fighting her youngest son Franklin E. Shivers died from typhoid. Being afraid of spreading the disease she took one slave with her up to the hill where she wanted to be buried and with her own hands helped to dig the grave and bury the body of her young son.
