Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Groover
Funeral Home Chapel in Wrens, the Rev. Bill O'Connor officiating. Interment will be in the Wrens City Cemetery.
Mr. Avera was a son of the late Alexander Avera and Mrs. Annie Hadden Avera, natives of Glascock County. He was educated on the Glascock County schools.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Georgia Killebrew Avera of Wrens; two sons, William C. Avera of New Orleans, La. and James E. Avera of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Franklin B. Abouse of Augusta; seven grandchildren; two brothers. William G. Avera and Leon M. Avera of Wrens; a sister, Mrs. Carey A. Parrish of Wrens; a sister-in-law, Mrs. B.P. Avera of Wrens; several cousins, among them, Mrs. Nora Hattaway of Augusta; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Martin Stapleton, Ray Jordan,Sr., Robert Weeks, Felton Whitaker, Whitner Wilburn and Blanton Reeves.
