A funeral for Lois May (Waldemar) Payne of Bellingham will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Lynden, with the Rev. Steve Gage officiating. Burial will follow at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale.
Mrs. Payne died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, in Bellingham. She was 69.
Born July 21, 1931, to Gladys (Reimer) and Martin Waldemar in Bellingham, she lived in Whatcom County all of her life.
A 1949 graduate of Lynden High School, she married Harold Anderson.
In January 1974, she married Richard "Bud" Payne.
Mrs. Payne worked for 24 years as a bus driver for the Meridian and Bellingham School districts, retiring in 1992. A member of First Baptist Church of Lynden, she enjoyed traveling, working in her yard and selling her Christmas trees.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, stepson Merle Payne and her brother, Richard Waldemar Sr.
Survivors include sons Ron Anderson of Ferndale, Glenn Anderson of Lynden and Larry Anderson of Sumas daughters Karen Graybeal of Ferndale and Tammy Chelone of Everett stepson Roger Payne of Bellingham stepdaughter Tracy James of Bellingham sisters Donna Dawes of Everett and Carol Darras of Hoodsport 25 grandchildren 11 great-grandchildren special friend Rod Chelius and many other relatives.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Whatcom Unit, P.O. Box 2447, Bellingham, WA 98227-2447, or to a charity of one's choice.
