KANNAPOLIS - Joseph Elmer Belanger, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at his home.
He was born June 15, 1935, in Suffolk County, Mass., the son of the late Jean Baptiste Belanger and Margaret Jones Belanger.
Joseph was a truck driver having worked for various trucking companies throughout the years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served as an MP. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Cohen Belanger; a daughter, Carol Ann Mann; and two brothers. Survivors include one daughter, Verna Poff of Sacramento, Calif.; two sons, Robert Jandrow and Charles Jandrow, both of Kannapolis; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Arrangements: The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis. Burial will follow at 12 p.m. at the National Cemetery, Salisbury, with military rites conducted by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at the funeral home. Memorials: May be made to the charity of the donor's choice in the name of Joseph E. Belanger.
