William D. Berta, 87, died Saturday, April 02, 2005 at Hospice of Volusia County in Port Orange, Florida. He was a resident of Fort Wayne for 47 years prior to residing in Daytona Beach Florida. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, was a veteran of WWII, was retired in 1983 from a career as an accountant and attended First Presbyterian Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea R. (DeWitt) Berta, and a son Robert D. Berta who died in Vietnam. Survivors include sons, William J. (Linda) Berta of Ponce Inlet, Florida, and T. Randall (Janet) Berta of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a sister, Patricia B. Bowers of Grays Lake, Illinois; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services 11am Saturday at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd. Calling 7 to 9pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
