AM ARCOMSteve Albeck, 65, of Marietta, died Monday, August 20, 2012. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 22, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Chapel, Marietta, with Rev. Dr. Sam Matthews officiating.

Steve made Marietta, Georgia his home in 1995, moving from the Lone Star State. He came to Georgia with the intention of establishing a Country Music Entertainment and Dance Hall. Shortly after his arrival, Steve established Cowboys Concert and Dance Hall at the corner of Highway 41 and Roberts Road. Cowboys provided country music and dancing for the patrons of metro Atlanta and surrounding counties for many years and regularly scheduled country music entertainers such as Trace Adkins, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Charlie Daniels, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Tracey Lawrence, Steve Wariner, and many others. Cowboys received numerous awards and recognition for best dance and country music venue. Under the guidance and vision of Steve Albeck, Cowboys was a highly successful business until a downturn in the economy.

Steve had other interests, such as learning to fly a plane and receiving his pilot's license. Although he was born in Illinois and graduated from Stephen F. Austin with a business degree, he latched onto and enjoyed being a loyal fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. He has many items of Bulldog memorabilia in his house and flies the Bulldog Flag from the flagpole at his residence in Marietta, Georgia. Steve served his country by enlisting in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge April 29, 1969. He attained the rank of Corporal.

Steve is survived by two brothers, Stan Albeck, of San Antonio, Texas, and George Albeck, of Adrian, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home & Crematory, Marietta, is in charge of arrangements.
