In the absence of Mr. L. E. Robinson we have been unable to get definite information as to his place of birth and boyhood home, but he date was September 17, 1837, which would place him in his 80th year at the time of his death. He was married on August 20, 1856, to Mary Ann Lucas. There are three living children, L. E. Robinson, of this point, Mrs. Dora Anderson, of Iowa, and Mrs. Rosetta Dalton, of Ohio. Several children were born to them who died in infancy. The wife died nearly thirteen years ago, February 17, 1904.
Mr. Robinson and family were among the early pioneers to come to this locality, filing on a homestead in Sand Creek township, still known as the Robinson farm, in 1882, and moving up here from Illinois the following spring. The resided on the farm, enduring all the hardships of the pioneers, until they moved to Wessington purchasing the house now owned and occupied by Frank Ory.
During his career he was active in many lines. In lodge, social and church affairs he was always found in the forefront and maintained a keen interest until failing health and increasing feebleness compelled him to retire from active participation in affairs a few years ago.
