Harrington - Dixie Rose (Anderson) Cirone
June 26, 1936 - Feb. 14, 2019
Dixie Rose (Anderson) Cirone, 82, of Harrington, passed away peacefully at her home on Feb. 14.
She was born at her grandparents' house in Columbia on June 26, 1936 and was the only child of Cecil and Abby Anderson and mother to Kim Cirone and Timothy Cirone.
Dixie grew up in Harrington and loved spending time with family and friends. She often shared many memories of growing up and how she loved to go dancing. She graduated high school a year early in 1953 and was the salutatorian for her class. She also graduated from Washington County Technical College with a 4.0 in 1992.
After her marriage to Kenneth Cirone, they moved to the Pemaquid and Bristol area where they raised their children. Some of her favorite memories were taking tickets at the entrance of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse as lighthouses were some of her favorite things. The time she spent in this area and all the friends she made always held a very special place in her heart.
She moved back to her hometown and reconnected with old friends and made new. She enjoyed working at the Harrington Dollar and taking care of Konner when he was young. Dixie loved stock car racing and when living in Pemaquid she would go to Wiscasset Speedway every weekend. She also loved playing cards, reading books, poems and jokes, seeing Conway Twitty in concert, watching TV shows such as America's Funniest Home Videos and Jeopardy, and watching football, the Little League World Series and the high school basketball tournaments.
She was predeceased by her parents, Cecil in 1987 and Abby in 1994.
Dixie is survived by her daughter, Kim Cirone of Pittston; son, Timothy and wife Cathy of Cherryfield; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tiffany, husband Zac and son Konner of Harrington, Brad, wife Ashley and their children Bella and Landon of Cherryfield, Melissa, husband Nick and their children Kaleb, Breanna and Lanie of Columbia Falls, and Nicole, husband Kenny and their daughters Emmalee and Mackenzie of Whitefield; best friend, Rose Davis; special cousins, Wayne and Libby Joyce; and "fairy godmother" Michelle McLaughlin; as well as her many cousins and friends she had met throughout the years.
There will be a celebration of her life in the spring as this was her favorite time of year.
