Funeral services for Lex L. Denton, 67, of Wisner were at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at First National Funeral Home with the Revs. Lee Smith and Jerry Hunt officiating. Burial was in Ogden Cemetery.

Mr. Denton died Tuesday at the Alexandria Veteran's Administration Hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Belen, Miss., had resided in Franklin Parish for the past 25 years, was a retired diesel engineer, a veteran of World War II and a member of the First Baptist Church of Wisner.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Inez Dilley Denton of Wisner, two brothers, Joel Denton of Richmond, Va., and Paul Denton of Memphis, Tenn. and three sisters, Mrs. Geoffrey Coe of Chapel Hill, N.C., Mrs. Dorothy Detz of Miami, Fla., and Miss Virginia Denton of Arlington, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Denton was the second oldest of seven children born to the union of Manford E. Denton and Blanche Phillips, who married in Quitman County, MS on February 27, 1898.
