Thomas Addis Noonan, at the age of 84, died peacefully in the presence of his family on September 23, 2003.

He was born in Bandera, TX, to Mary and Addis Noonan on December 11, 1918 and soon thereafter moved to San Antonio.

After attending Trinity University, University of Washington and Texas A&M, where he studied Architecture, he became a member of the AIA. Tom Noonan's father, Addis, began the Architectural firm of Addis E. Noonan & Associates in 1921. Tom and his brother, Clifton, carried on their father's business into the present Noonan Rittimann Architects. The McNay Art Institute was the setting for the firm's 75th anniversary celebration in 1996, which also marked the retirement for Tom Noonan. Among his favorite projects locally were the original San Antonio Convention Center Complex, the San Antonio Police Headquarters and the Oak Hills Presbyterian Church, of which he and his wife were charter members.

Family and friends viewed Tom as a man of true integrity, honor and a real gentleman.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Clifton E. Noonan; sister, Carolyn Hill and husband Garold I. Hill.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Vivian Hicks Noonan; daughter, Mrs. Gail Kathleen Fordyce; son, Dr. Tommy Noonan; daughter-in-law, Lori Noonan; grandchildren, Kathleen Vivian Fordyce, Jennifer Ophelia Fordyce and Rayne Noonan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made on his behalf.

Craig Noonan, Robert Dur, Jack Daniels, Hank Denk, Dr. Charles Wiseman and Rayne Noonan will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerald Lyda, Col. Robert Stephens and Bill Southwell.
