Charles Aaron Sr., former district attorney, died Sunday at his home


WEST POINT - Mr. Charles O. Aaron Sr., 75, of West Point died Sunday, April 15, 2007 at his country home on County Road 527, LaFayette.


Graveside services are planned for Wednesday, April 18 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett with Rev Joyce Akridge officiating.


Mr. Aaron is survived by his wife, Shirley Austin Aaron of West Point; one daughter, Amanda H. (Tom) Cordi of Auburn; one son, Brent M. (Margaret) Aaron of Huntsville, AL; one stepson, Austin K. Sanderson of Newark, NJ; one stepdaughter, Della D. Sanderson of Birmingham, AL; five grandsons, Charles O. Aaron III of Auburn, Mitchell Aaron of Dadeville, Anthony Cordi of Auburn and Cameron Aaron and Brandon Aaron, both of Huntsville; one sister, Rudine McCoy of Lanett; two nephews, Skip McCoy and Kyle McCoy, both of Lanett; and one niece, Valerie Kambeitz of Lanett.


Born March 19, 1932 in Lanett, Mr. Aaron was the son of the late Ruby Oliver Aaron and the late Lorenzo L. Aaron. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally M. Aaron and his son, Charles O. Aaron Jr. Mr. Aaron was a graduate of Lanett High School. He enrolled at Emory University in pre med, then transferred to Auburn University, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1955. Mr. Aaron received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alabama in 1957. He practiced law in Arab, AL from 1957 until 1969 and was an attorney for the Marshall County Gas Company. Mr. Aaron practiced law in Lanett from 1969 until 2007 and served as district attorney for the fifth Judicial Circuit in Alabama for the term of January 1971 until January 1975. On March 28, he received a 50-year certificate from the Alabama State Bar.


The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home and may be contacted at his home, 609 Avenue E. in West Point.


Mrs. Aaron would like to thank Dr. Julian Duttera and his staff, as well as Chattahoochee Hospice for their care. She would also like to thank Mr. Aaron's loyal caretaker, Jacobi Dardy for devotion and care.
