Henry Smith died June 30, 1906 in Mound City, Mo., aged 85. He was born in Baden, Germany on June 21, 1821. He came with his parents to the United States when he was 15. They settled in Stark County, Ohio and later moved to Kosiusko Co., Ind.

He married Miss Lora Ann Secrist on Nov. 10, 1844. Seven boys and seven girls were born. In 1866, they came to Oregon, Mo. for two years, and then moved to Ross Grove, north of Mound City, where he lived for 33 years. His wife died in 1880.

In 1885, he married Mrs. Priscilla Holly, who survives him. In 1901, he moved to a farm near Hamburg, Iowa and lived there for four years. In 1905, he returned to Mound City where he died after an illness of several weeks.

In 1846 he united with the Evangelical Church and remained a consistent member up to his death.

He leaves his wife, one sister, Mrs. Charles George, of Kosciusko, Ind.; six children-Josiah, of King City, Mo., George, of Bourbon, Ind., Catherine Becknell of South Bend, Ind., Sarah Rostock, of Walter, Okla., Elizabeth Steele and Rebecca Oyerly, of Mound City, Mo.

Short services were conducted from the home on Sunday, 1st inst., interment in the Center Cemetery, Rev. Weidemier preached the funeral sermon at the Ebenezer Church.-Jeffersonian.
