Ted is preceded in death by his wife, Margie Lee (Porterfield) Hughes; parents, Edward Preston Hughes and Susie Newton Hughes; brothers, Doc, Sam, John Gene and Billy Hughes; sisters, Susie Lee Aldridge, Mercedes Davis, Ione Herrin and Doris Williams.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Irvin and husband David; brother, E. P. Hughes, Jr.; sister, Ann Morton; two grandchildren; and three grandchildren.
