Mrs. Opal Maebell Brumbelow Kent, age 92, of 1560 Old Rockmart Road, Silver Creek, passed away on Friday evening, June 13, 2014, at her residence.

Mrs. Kent was born in Aragon, Georgia on August 28, 1921, daughter of the late Frank Brumbelow and the late Frances Yarbrough Brumbelow. She was also preceded in death by her husband, DeRoy Kent, on September 12, 1986, by a sister, Rovina Agan, and by five brothers, Wilson, Jim, Cheney, Clyde and Curtis Brumbelow. Mrs. Kent was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, she worked for a number of years at West Point Pepperell Manufacturing where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mrs. Kent was an accomplished pianist.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Diane Mehaffey and her husband, Ken, Silver Creek; two grandchildren, Lisa Jones and her husband, Rance, Rome, and Greg Brown and his wife, Teresa, Armuchee; three great grandchildren, Andrew Jones and his wife, Kristina, Euharlee, Haley Jones, Rome, and Kaylen Brown, Armuchee; one great-great grandson, Tucker Jones, Euharlee; a brother, Odell Brumbelow, Aragon; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kent will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Garrett and the Rev. Dennis Conway officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 6 until 8pm. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday at 1:30pm and include: Jimmy Brumbelow, Ricky Brumbelow, Alfred Brumbelow, Houston Brumbelow, Edgar Brumbelow, Waymon Brumbelow, Franklin Agan, and Melvin Brumbelow.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
