Funeral services for Michael W. Ziegler, 52, of Lower Brule will be 1:00 pm Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule with burial in the Messiah Episcopal Cemetery at Iron Nation, SD. Wake services will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening at 7:00 pm at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule.

Michael Wayne Ziegler, Zuya-ile (Flaming Warrior) was born September 28, 1961 to William Ziegler and Roberta Thomas at Chamberlain. He attended school at St. Joseph's Indian School and Lower Brule Tribal Schools.
After high school, he attended Mitchell Technical Institute in Mitchell for plumbing. He traveled with Dave Bald Eagle as a Traditional Dancer Group throughout Europe.
Upon his return he started his own dancing group named "Heart of The Earth" and traveled all over the United States. He was a well respected traditional dancer performing the Native American Dances.
He loved working with children teaching them their culture and enjoyed making Native American crafts in order for them to continue their heritage.
Michael passed away on June 13, 2014 at Rapid Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 52 years. Gratefully sharing his life are his mother Roberta Thomas of Rapid City; five brothers Myron Ziegler, Lenny Ziegler, Tom Ziegler, Brian Ziegler, Bill Ziegler, Jr.; four sisters Pam Golus, Holly Fallis, Lori Seeking Land, Lynelle Defond; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father; two brothers Wes and Elmer Ziegler; maternal grandparents Carrie World Turner and Victor Thomas; paternal grandparents Elmer (Sonny) Ziegler and Geraldine Lefler Ziegler; two uncles Alan Ziegler and Kenny Cermack; and aunt Diane Big Eagle.
