Warner, the son of Henry and Mary Cupp, was born in 1806 in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The Cupps were among the first settlers to that county. He married Anna Ligon in about 1826. They had nine children: Emily, William C. "Dock", John, Mary, Jacob, Nancy Ann, Elizabeth, Henry, and Sarah. The family moved to Greene County, Arkansas, in 1842. Warner farmed in the St. Francis and Salem townships for many years before his death in February of 1871.
