OKEECHOBEE - Juanita Simmons, age 76, of Okeechobee, died Sept. 25, 2009, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. Born July 1, 1933, in Okeechobee to Richard and Curtis (Keene) Carter, she was a homemaker and member of the Church of God. Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Edward Simmons. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Simmons; son, Richard Simmons (Myrna) all of Okeechobee; two grandchildren, Justin Simmons of Troy, Ala., and Jeannie Barrigan of Orlando; and one-great grandson, Case Edward Simmons of Hanceville, Ala. Graveside funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Don Leon officiating. Friends may sign the guestbook at www.bassokeechobeefh.com.
