He served in the Navy during World War II and was serving on the U.S.S. Astoria when it sank. He retired from the Navy at Point Mugo, California, on May 16, 1960 and then worked for Civil Service for an additional fifteen years. He moved to the Lawton area from Point Mugo. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a past member of the Elk’s Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Janet & John Wallace, Cache, Oklahoma; a daughter in law, Janet Leifur, Camarillo, California; four grandchildren, Michael Leifur, Amy Leifur, Todd and Mary Ellen Wallace and Tanya and Warren Robinson; three great grandchildren, Blake, Amber and John-Todd; a brother, Dwayne Leifur, Pensacola, Florida.
A son, Gary Leifur, and a sister, Arlene Sandvich, preceded him in death.
Services were held in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with John Wallace, officiating.
