Mrs. Martha J. Heller, the wife of John A. Heller, who was formerly a prominent florist of North Eighth Street, died at her home, 1121 North Eighth Street, this morning at 6:30 o'clock. Mrs. Heller had been in poor health for the past two or three years, and has been failing steadily. She became suddenly worse last Wednesday, and was compelled to take to her bed, from which she never arose. Her death was caused by a complication of diseases. Mrs. Martha J. Heller, who was formerly Miss Martha Jane Weidenhammer, was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, on July 25, 1844, and at the time of her death was 66 years of age. She was married in 1868 to John A. Heller. She was a woman of many accomplishments, and had always lived a consistent Christian life. Her death will be sincerely mourned by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Bimson, who is housekeeper at the Soldiers' Home; and one brother, Charles H. Weidenhamer of Glenwood Springs, Colo.
The funeral and burial will be private, and will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 11th, at 4 o'clock p.m. Friends can view the remains from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Interment at Woodland. The Quincy Daily Journal, October 08, 1910, Page: 3

There is some difference of opinion regarding Martha (nee Weidenhammer) Heller's date of birth. The obituary contributed by Michael Downing gives her date of birth as 25 Jul 1844. Find-a-Grave member daveandlibby state that cemetery records and the stele give her birth year as 1850. As a third option, Martha is found in the 1850 census with her widowed mother, Nancy (nee Taylor) Weidenhammer in Village Township, Van Buren County, Iowa page 356 line 5. In this census Martha, age 4, is bookended by her borther Charles, age 5, and sister Nancy, age 1. This would place Martha's birth about 1845/46.
