Services for William "Bill" Hammonds, 87, Whitehouse, will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 22, 2014, in the Cottle Funeral Home Chapel, Troup, with Reverend Benny Portwood officiating, Burial will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mr. Hammonds died Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Tyler. He was born September 14, 1926, in Red Springs to the late Jonas Allison and Ira Bea Lyons Hammonds.

Mr. Hammonds was a graduate of Whitehouse High School and worked for Chance Vought Company as a sheetmetal fabricator. He he was a 32nd degree Master Mason Scottish Rite and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Troup.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Grant and Margie Dodd, and a brother, James Hammonds.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Dean Hammonds and Althea Rettele, Bedford, and Frankie and Mookda Hammonds, Springtown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tiressa and Jerry Vargo, Corsicana, and Mary Jane Hammonds, Troup; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Donna Hammonds, Troup; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Wanda Maples, Troup, Bobbie Hoganmiller and Larry, Port Aransas, and Shirley and Doug Malone, Whitehouse; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be William Vargo, Jerry Vargo, Jr., Justin White, Justin Dylan White, Austin White, Jason Hammonds, Lucas Dean Hammonds, Stephen Michael Hammonds and Douglas Wayne. Honorary pallbearer will be Dale Hammonds.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 22, 2014 prior to the service.
