Affidavit states the "She [Martha M Bryant] and Marian F. Bryant were married in Jackson County on the 25th day of March 1860 by Parson Charles (?) Cooper. [John C. Cooper] Witnessed by B. B. Washburn and Nancy M Youngblood.

According to Jackson Co., TN Loose Distsrict/Chancery Court Papers Reel *87, JUDITH JOHNSON et al vs. DAN D. PATE Chancery 1866-1875, Martha Graves [Bryant] Rollins states: "In 1860 and 1861 my husband F. M. Bryant lived in Jackson County part of the time and Macon County part of the time. In 1860 he lived between Salt Lick and War Trace [creeks near Carthage, Smith Co., Tennessee]. I administered on F. M. Bryant's estate.... cattle and household goods and kitchen furniture... husband John R. Rollins bought land from Ransom R. White and sold to Lovelady." Note: sometimes it is F. M. Bryant, sometimes it is M. F. Bryant, sometimes it is spelled Briant, all in the same document.

Marion F Bryant enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1861, age 23, as a Private in Company I, Tennessee 28th Infantry Regiment, also known as 2nd Tennessee Mountain Volunteers. The 28th Infantry Regiment Tennessee was organized on 28 Sep 1861. (Civil War Service Records - Confederate, Online Database: www.fold3.com, image 78434319 Tennessee). His Civil War record gives physical description as 5' 8", fair complexion, grey eyes, black hair, and occupation as farmer. Marion F. Bryant died of disease contracted while serving in the Confederate Army on 20 Jan 1862 at Monticello, KY, per his Civil War Service Records.
