Mrs. Genelle Smith Abrams, 91, widow of Ollie James Abrams, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, in Williamsburg Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Abrams was born March 30, 1923, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Richard Leon Smith and Etta Boyd Smith.
She was a graduate of Andrews High School and Coker College. She retired after 32 years of teaching at Salters, Johnsonville, and Williamsburg Elementary Schools. Mrs. Abrams was a member of Spring Gulley Baptist Church, where she was active in the Women's Missionary Union and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
She was survived by a son, James Richard (Mary) Abrams, Sr., of Andrews; a grandson, James Richard (YeVonne) Abrams, Jr, of Andrews; a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Abrams Pope, of Conway; and great grandchildren, Allison and James Abrams.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, in Williamsburg Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Spring Gulley Baptist Church, c/o Amanda Taylor, 2456 US Hwy 521, Andrews, SC 29510.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, in Spring Gulley Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
