Escondido, San Diego county. He was enumerated on the Road Camp prison crew for San Quentin State prison in April.
The prison record indicates he was discharged on December 13, 1940. That date is usually written on the day of arrival as their anticipated discharge date.
Since I cannot find Donahue’s death date on the CDI, there are several things that could of happened here.
One, the book I have referenced is wrong. Even though a burial plot was recorded for Donahue, cross referenced by his inmate number, the book does have errors. It is possible he was released and never came back.
Two, Donahue could of died between the road crew in April and his anticipated release date in December 1940, and the death information was not updated on the records that exist on Ancestry.
Three, he was released in December, 1940 and died soon after, in which case, he was interred on Boot Hill as a San Quentin prisoner with no one to claim his remains.
If a family member can provide proof that he left San Quentin and/or he was buried someplace else, I would be happy to delete this memorial.
