Cpl. John B. Reynolds was a medic with the 192nd Tank Battalion. His unit fought on Bataan, in the Philippine Islands, during the opening months of the War in the Pacific. On April 9, 1942, he became a Prisoner of War and took part in the Bataan Death March.
As a POW, he was held at Camp O'Donnell and Cabanatuan in the Philippines. He was sent to Formosa and later Japan. Two of the Japanese Hell Ships he was on were sunk by American fighters.
After arriving in Japan, he became ill and died at Kokura Military Hospital. His remains were cremated and returned to his family after the war.
